It’s safe to say that R&B will have an interesting fall. Singers Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and Solange are all preparing new music for release soon. As far as Carey’s concerned, she’ll not only appear on the E! docu-series “Mariah’s World”, which premieres on Dec. 4, but she’ll also make an appearance on the third season of Fox’s “Empire.” According to “Empire” co-star Jussie Smollett, Carey is also preparing music for their duet on the show as well. Following the release of her new single “Hurts”, British singer/songwriter Emeli Sande has announced the cover and track list for her forthcoming album “Long Live The Angels.” The album is scheduled for release on Nov. 11 and the track list is available also. The disc features 15 tracks and includes appearances by Jay Electronica, Aine Zion, and Joel Sande & The Serenje Choir. The songstress will also head out on the road for a promo tour as well. For the second consecutive year Beyoncé will headline husband Jay Z’s TIDAL X benefit concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn NY. The event will take place on Oct. 15. Other artists slated to perform at the benefit include Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Common, T.I., DNCE, Blood Orange, Robin Thicke, Emeli Sande, Prince Royce, Salva, Cipha Sounds, Ross One, Angie Martinez, Bebe Rexh, Mark E. Bassy, Lil Yachty, Kevin Garrett, Danielle Bradbery and Sir The Baptist. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to Robin Hood, a charity that fights poverty in New York City. Non Tidal subscribers can live stream the event. Presale tickets are available now and tickets will be available to the general public on Sept. 26. Joey Purp released the single “Girls@” back in July. Yesterday, the visual for the track featuring Chance The Rapper hit airwaves. As Purp and Chance continue to pose the question “Where the girls at?”, they suddenly find themselves surrounded by girls in the video. Chance’s verse even finds the rapper relaxed on the hood of a moving car filled with female passengers. The clip ends with a group dance through an empty parking lot signally one final summer party before the first day of fall. Following the news of rapper Shawty Lo’s tragic death in a car accident yesterday, several hip hop stars took to social media to pay tribute to the Atlanta MC. Shawty Lo was responsible for the 2008 hit “Dey Know”. He was also a member of the rap group D4L, which had a hit with the single “Laffy Taffy.” Timelines were flooded with condolences to the rapper’s friends and family. He was the father of eleven children. A candlelight vigil in his native Bankhead was held yesterday per an Instagram post from his manager Johnnie Cabbell. Meanwhile, Shawty Lo’s recent music video “”Put Some Respeck On It” also hit the internet.
